Germany battle back to earn Switzerland draw
Germany fought back from behind with Niclas Fullkrug scoring a late equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in a thrilling Euro 2024 Group D encounter in Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Switzerland took the lead early in the second half through Nico Elvedi, after his glancing header from Ricardo Rodriguez's corner found its way into the bottom left corner.
Haris Seferovic had already put Switzerland ahead before the break but his goal was ruled out for offside. But Germany's pressure in the final 15 minutes finally paid dividends as Fullkrug fired home to leave the two sides level on points at the top of Group D.Germany, who have now drawn both of their opening two matches, are top of the group by virtue of having scored more goals than Switzerland, who have four points. They face Spain in their final group game while Switzerland take on Czech Republic.
