Matt Ryan has officially retired from the NFL after spending 14 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. The six-time Pro Bowler announced his decision on Monday via social media, ending a decorated career that included leading the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance.
Ryan's last contract with the Falcons was a six-year, $67.5 million deal he signed in 2018. The contract included a $7.45 million signing bonus, $34.75 million guaranteed, and an average annual value of $11.25 million.
In 2020, Ryan's cap number was $18.96 million. His base salary that year was just $1.05 million, with the remaining $17.91 million coming in other forms of compensation.
Over the course of his career, Ryan earned a total of over $150 million in salary and bonuses. He was one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL during his time with the Falcons.
