Fort Pierce honors CeeCee Ross Lyles on 9/11
Lyles was a flight attendant on American Airlines Flight 11, which was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
She was one of the 2,977 people who died in the September 11th attacks.
On Sunday, September 11, 2022, the City of Fort Pierce held a special ceremony to honor Lyles.
The ceremony was held at the CeeCee Ross Lyles Memorial Garden, which is located at the corner of Avenue D and North 13th Street in Fort Pierce.
The garden was dedicated in Lyles' memory in 2002.
The ceremony included a wreath-laying ceremony, a moment of silence, and a reading of Lyles' name.
Mayor Linda Hudson and other city officials spoke at the ceremony.
Lyles' family members were also in attendance.
Lyles was a lifelong resident of Fort Pierce.
She graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School in 1985.
She began working as a flight attendant for American Airlines in 1990.
Lyles was a dedicated and compassionate employee.
She was known for her warm smile and her willingness to help others.
She was also a loving wife and mother.
Lyles' death was a tragic loss for her family, her friends, and her community.
She will always be remembered for her sacrifice and her unwavering spirit.
